Always a pleasure

Food is wonderful. The best of the best. Go early, though. It gets popular. The scenery is great and it is very romantic. Great experience for anyone.

Overrated - Save your $$$

I've been to more than my share of restaurants in LA and I must admit this was the most disappointing. First of all, if you can find this place - congratulations! I don't know if it's the fault of Salt Creek or the city, but they should change their address. If you use Mapquest, Google or GPS you will not arrive at the supposed address. It's actually located at the intersection of Sepulveda and Rosecrans, inside a strip mall with Best Buy, Borders and Whole Foods. Yes, this was once a beautiful wetland sanctuary for those of us old enough to remember. There's really nothing spectacular inside, except for a fireplace and some fire pits outside the patio, and some live music (if you get there early enough to hear it). You would find a similar ambience at your local Olive Garden. The menu is expensive, from $12 martinis to $15 appetizers, up to $30 main dishes. For that price you would expect the food to be at least good, but it's mediocre at best. My advice is to save your money and have a nice dinner at Islands or even TGIF to experience the same quality of food. We went on a Saturday and the service or lack of it makes the dining experience less than desireable. Once our waiter took our orders and we didn't see again until he gave us our check one hour later. Pros: Lots of parking spaces Cons: Bad address, poor service, expensive menu, mediocre food

Overall, great atmosphere for friends

I have been here for lunch as well as happy hour a few times and have enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Though like any restaraunt, there are bad days. One lunch, we had poor service. But that was because the poor girl serving the patio area was by herself and there were several loud rude people giving her grief. Happy hour is fantastic... the open bar area with the huge table is great for our large group to mingle around. The wasabi encrusted chilean sea bass was delicious as is the goat cheese dip.

Save your money.

The restaurant itself is really nice and clean. The patio and fire pits are beautiful and a great place to chat with friends. The service was decent, it was a Monday night so not too busy. We had a group of friends for a birthday dinner. I ordered a mushroom/swiss burger with fries and it tasted just okay. I've had better burgers at other places for way less. The fries were good but not hot. I only ate half and thank goodness because I got sick later on that night and was not a happy camper. I can't use the appropriate term because they won't print my review, so I use sick but we all know that that means. I think even without the "sickness", I would not return back to Salt Creek Grille. It was below average and the high prices do not match the quality of food that was served.

very disappointing!

this is the most disappointing restaurant experience i've had to date. there were three of us in our party. we came in on a saturday night so a wait was expected. a few minutes after we came, a couple of ladies came in and put their name down for a table. half-way through our wait, the two ladies who came after us were seated before us! i was ready to make a scene if one of the other members of my party hadn't calmed me down. i know the receptionist knew i was upset because she could not even look at me straight in the eye. when we finally got our table, it took a good 15 minutes for our server to finally get to our table. he was enumerating the night's specials when we cut him off since all of us already knew what we wanted (that's how long we were waiting -- we were actually able to go over the menu four times reading each item and then decide what we wanted to have). to top it all off, the food was mediocre. the salmon was dry and over-cooked. the pork chop was bland and a bit tough and my barbecue pork sandwich was mostly barbecue sauce which soaked right through the bread making it soggy and unappealing. the only redeeming item in the lot was the garlic fries. but then if that were the case, i should have just ordered the fries and saved me some disappointment. oh, did i mention that the bar area is the noisiest place on earth? it seems that the band was trying to play loud enough overpower the talking people and the people were talking loud enough to overpower the band! now if i could get my mother-in-law to go there and then lock her in, this would be a much better world! oh wait, i don't have a mother-in-law. . .
